The National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL), IIT Madras, proposes to establish two prestigious Chair Professorships at IIT Guwahati under the title “NPTEL Chair Professor.”

The proposed Chairs are:
1.D. N. Buragohain NPTEL Chair Professor
2.Gautam Barua NPTEL Chair Professor

The objective of instituting this Chair is to recognize and support outstanding faculty members of IIT Guwahati who have demonstrated excellence in research, innovation, and industry collaboration, and who have made significant contributions to technology-enhanced learning through NPTEL-SWAYAM.

Key terms of the Chair Professorship are as follows:

1.Regular permanent faculty members (Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor) actively offering NPTEL-SWAYAM courses and contributing significantly to technology-enhanced learning are eligible to apply.

2.Selection will be made by a Standing Selection Committee constituted by IIT Guwahati.

3.The tenure of the Chair will be three years, without reappointment.

4.Chair Professors will continue their academic contributions and undertake outreach activities on behalf of NPTEL and the Institute. The appointments will be periodically reviewed by the Selection Committee
